Nong Nont, 5, a kindergarten pupil was beaten and badly injured by older students (a Prathom 1 student and Mathayom 1 student) in their school in Suphan Buri. He was suffered from a broken arm, bruised inside, and he was later diagnosed with infected blood and damaged heart valves. His condition got worse and he died on the night of May 28 (after the beating on March 1).
It is undeniable that this tragic violent act occurred in a school, which parents trust to be like a second home for their kids.
There are many losses from this violence; Nong Nont was seriously harmed and died. But the older students who beat him now also have serious stresses and are likely to suffer impacts to their future. While they had no intention of killing Nong Nont, they were a prime cause of his death.
This incident is a lesson not only for schools - showing that need to have extra security measures to care for children via teacher "guards" and senior student inspectors before pupils attend classes in the morning, at the noon break, and after school - to prevent violence occurring.
Parents also have a role to take care of their children and monitor closely to minimise risks that they may cause trouble and use violence to solve their problems, especially children who often show aggressive behaviour, or are self-centred, impatient, and irritable.
These cares could prevent such violence that no one wants to happen again.
