Time frame for public hearings on Govts water program set

BANGKOK, 1 July 2013 – The Office of the National Water and Flood Management Policy has set a time frame for public hearings to be conducted nationwide, as required by the Administrative Court’s rulings and in line with the government’s policy.

According to Office Secretary-General Supoj Tovijakchaikul, the office and the Strategic Committee for Water Resources Management have already worked out the time frame together. The public hearings would be sorted into three groupsâ€"the upstream, the midstream and the downstream areas. Workshops and exhibitions on the government’s water management program would also be arranged to create understanding and show that the program is transparent.

The secretary-general said details of the time frame and the public hearings would be announced to the public at a later date.
