The Thai-Pakistani model mistaken for the daughter of Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung is mystified about why she was dragged into the affair.

Amena ''Ice'' Gul, a television actress, says her real father is Pakistani, and lives overseas.

''I don't want to tell him that someone has mistaken me for the daughter of a deputy prime minister, as I am sure he would not understand,'' she said.

Democrat MP Watchara Petchthong told the House on Wednesday that a 15-year-old girl who turned up at parliament on Wednesday claimed she was Mr Chalerm's daughter.

He showed the media a photograph of the girl, which inquiries by netizens quickly revealed was actually a doctored picture of Ice.

Told about the error later, Mr Watchara insisted the teenager who turned up at parliament claiming to be Mr Chalerm's daughter looked the same.

Ice is 20.

Mr Watchara said the girl, who identified herself as Wayuhasthep Yubamrung, turned up to see Mr Chalerm but was turned away by security. She was carrying a three-month-old child.

He asked Deputy House Speaker Wisut Chainarun to investigate, as all Thais should have the right to see their members of parliament.

He said the girl was contacted by a Democrat Party official as she sat at the bus stop opposite parliament.

She told the Democrat she had just been to Hua Mak police station to inform them she had lost her French passport.

She handed the Democrat a photograph, with a note scrawled on the back for Mr Chalerm: ''Dad, it's Wayu. I'm not dead. Please receive this, and call me.''

Mr Wisut agreed to investigate. Parliament officials called the number on the back of the picture, but the phone had been turned off.

They also contacted Mr Chalerm to find out if he had a missing daughter. The deputy prime minister, who was exercising at home when he took the call, laughed off the matter.

Mr Chalerm, who has three sons, said he and his wife had known each other since they were teens, and he hadn't strayed.

''What's she look like?'' he asked reporters jokingly.

''She's good looking,'' they replied.

''Even so, she's not mine,'' he said.

Mr Watchara spoke to reporters after raising the matter in the House, and held up the photograph which the girl had handed over to his party.

Media reports say that within moments of the picture going public, netizens had identified the woman in the photograph as Ice.

Reporting on the results of his inquiry, Mr Wisut said an inspection of footage from CCTV cameras around parliament, including one at the bus stop opposite, failed to turn up any evidence of the girl. ''No one recalls her,'' he said.

Mr Watchara has now apologised to Ice for dragging her into the affair. ''I accept that she and Mr Chalerm do not know each other _ but I have no intention of saying sorry to Mr Chalerm,'' he said.

He had contacted Hua Mak police station, who confirmed a teen identifying herself by the name given to his party had notified them of a missing passport. He had asked to see the station's CCTV footage.

Ice, meanwhile, said she didn't recognise herself in the picture at first.

''When I first saw the picture in that morning's news I didn't realise it was me. When a friend sent me the picture I started to feel as if it looked familiar, but thought it must have been someone else who simply looked like me.

''But when I saw that the picture was actually part of an advertisement which I once made, I realised it was me for sure.

''I wonder why she should choose my picture, instead of her own. I don't know the girl, or Mr Chalerm, nor am I Mr Chalerm's daughter,'' she said.

Mr Chalerm says he does not intend taking the matter any further, as no one suffered any harm. Ice says she is taking advice from friends.

'My girlfriend is not for sale'

Singer Anuwat ''Boy'' Sanguansakpakdee has struck out at an entertainment rag for suggesting his girlfriend will have to sell herself to recover the 10 million baht the couple lost in a recent restaurant fire.

''Don't take your mother's behaviour and assume everyone else has to behave the same way,'' Boy sniffed in a message on his Instagram account, referring to the journalist who wrote the article.

''Why take the suffering of others and make fun of it for your own amusement,'' he said.

Boy owns three branches of the Shabu King restaurant with actress Pijitra ''Jeab'' Sirivejapun.

The Wang Thonglang branch was destroyed by fire in January, sustaining 10 million baht in damage.

Boy was incensed after an article in Super Banterng, an entertainment rag published by the Manager Group, claimed Jeab was preparing to take her clothes off to raise money to rebuild the restaurant.

It referred to an interview in which Jeab said she would have to step up her modelling work, and make more joint appearances with Boy, to replenish the kitty.

Calling the magazine ''evil'', Boy said such reportage was below the belt. His comments struck a chord with his fan club, attracting several thousand ''likes''.

Please don't try your call again

Singer Tana ''Chain'' Limpayaraya, left, is threatening to go to police unless an overly enthusiastic fan stops contacting him.

Chain says an obsessive member of his fanclub calls and sends text messages to him 30 to 40 times a day. ''She carries on as if we talk together regularly, and has even asked me for sex,'' he said last week.

''I don't know how she obtained my number, as it is new. But she is starting to annoy me, as she will call any time of the day. If it doesn't stop soon I will complain to the police,'' he said.

Chain said the obsessive caller isn't his only fan bugbear: an admirer on Twitter has left 13,500 tweets for him over the past few months.

''Members of my fan club piled in and warned her to back off, so the tweets have fallen off now,'' he said.

Chain said he now hands his phone to his manager if his other obsessive admirer calls. ''He put her on loudspeaker. She sounds like a young kid with a problem. I don't want to cause hassles for her, and hope it can just go away quietly.''

''Some of the messages are creepy, including one where she vows to lie in wait for me at work.''

Chain said he doesn't want to change his number again, as he likes the digits.

''A friend found the number for me. It's too pretty to change,'' he said.

Mad about the boy band

Young Thais' obsession with all things Korean has taken a knock, after a member of a Korean boyband embarrassed a popular Thai TV presenter.

Channel 3 presenter Sorayuth Suthassanachinda invited members of the Korean boyband Super Junior on his show recently. As he was interviewing them, he placed his hand around the shoulder of singer Lee Sung-min in a friendly gesture.

Band member Henry Lau, who was standing behind him, took Sorayuth's arm off the young man's shoulder as Sung-min was answering a question, and gave him a disapproving look.

''Sorayuth shocked as Super Junior removes his hand!'' news reports crowed.

Thai netizens have left hundreds of messages about whether Sorayuth, or his Korean guests, were more at fault.

''In Korea, it is frowned upon to touch someone you barely know,'' one solemn poster intoned.

''It's like playing with a Thai's head _ you don't do it,'' chimed in another.

''Koreans regularly play with each other's heads on TV, but bridle when you put a hand on their shoulder in friendship?'' asked one incredulously.

''Korean boyband members are always kissing each other on the mouth. What's that about then?'' another neitzen asked.

''They were guests on his show, and should show more respect,'' said another.

The interview otherwise passed without bother. Sorayuth has declined to comment.
