Whether you're visiting Singapore for business or pleasure, the Conrad Centennial is a great place to stay
One of the top cities for business in the Southeast Asia region, Singapore is getting ready to welcome an influx of tourists over the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays. While some offices will be closed as the world welcomes the year of the snake, for several, it will be business as usual, and hotels of all categories are expecting a busy time.
Among them is the Conrad Centennial Singapore, a four-star hotel located in the business district not far from the Mandarin Oriental and The Pan Pacific.
Standing 31 floors high, it offers 507 guestrooms with full facilities such as restaurants, bars, swimming pool, fitness centre, and ballrooms and the neutral earth tones that dominate the public spaces have a calming effect.
Checking in at the spacious lobby, I was warmly welcomed by both the receptionist and concierge and quickly given a room on the 21st floor. Though I don't usually like heights, I found the view from the window absolutely stunning and was able to pick out many of Singapore's iconic landmarks including Marina Bay, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore Flyer, and Gardens by the Bay.
My room type was a King Classic and comfortably appointed with a 46-inch LCD television, writing desk, in-room safe and mini-bar. Painted in light green and yellow, it felt cool and clean and I loved the large marble bathroom with its separate glass shower, bathtub, and a 180-degree mirror.
I was up early the next morning and headed down for the breakfast buffet at Oscar, which featured a good selection of both international and local foods. Those who prefer more privacy can opt to have breakfast in the lobby lounge.
I also tried out the Conrad Centennial's fitness centre and was very impressed by the choice of workout equipment. Fitness trainers are on hand to help you through your session and sweet drinks and fruits are available at the end.
