Prize money of Bt2 million is on offer at the 10th Khon Kaen International Marathon on Sunday, with more than 70,000 runners from some 40 countries expected to join the event.

Kenyan athletes are the favourites to win this year's full 42.195km marathon, following wins last year by Daniel Omori Gekara and Jackline Kiplimo.

This year, the full-marathon winners will take home Bt200,000 apiece plus the prestigious King's Cup trophies, while the men's and women's winners in the 21.10km half marathon will each claim Bt50,000 plus the Queen's Cup. Mini-marathon (11.5km) winners will each be handed Bt20,000.

The full marathon starts at 4.15am, the half-marathon at 5.25am, the mini-marathon at 6.05am, and the 4.5km walk-and-run at 8am.
