The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) on Thursday formally asked the prosecutors to lay land encroachment charges against a son of Democrat Party MP Suthep Thaugsuban and three other people.
Tan Thaugsuban, Mr Suthep's son, and three other suspects in the same case - Pongchai Fathaweeporn, Samart Ruangsri and Bancherd Laopiyasakul reported to the Office of the Attorney-General in the company of DSI officials, who formally handed the case to the prosecutors.
The four are accused of occupying land on Khao Phaeng mountain on Koh Samui of Surat Thani province in violation of the Forestry Act and Land Act.
Viroj Phumsirisawat, lawyer for the four suspects, said he accompanied them to report to the DSI in response to a summons. He said his clients were innocent.
The prosecutors accepted the case for consideration and set Jan 15 to decide whether to proceed with it.
