The right Guy for the job

Re: Guy Fawkes was no freedom fighter.

History depends on who is telling the story. England had been ruled by the Welsh Tudors, who usurped the throne from the English Plantagenets. The Tudor King Henry VIII changed the religion to Protestant to suit his own ends. The wicked Tudors had dispatched the Plantagenet line to early graves so when the Tudor line came to a halt a Scottish King, James VI, was imported to become James I of England.

An English patriot, Guy Fawkes was born a Protestant but changed to the "true" faith after his mother remarried. He and others wanted to see the crown return to an English King. Guy was stitched up by a biased justice system, because he wanted to blow up parliament, and executed. They got to write the history.

A similar line of historical accuracy has been adopted to account for happenings in Thailand in recent years. The Guy Fawkes emblem is entirely appropriate

with Thailand's own Guido Fawkes trying to restore the country to the house of Mammon but trying to eliminate the justice system as a stepping stone before returning. He can then rewrite the history.
