Executives and students at 27 universities vow against "cheating", ready to support national anti-corruption campaigns.

Together, they signed the declaration on Sunday at Thammasat University's stadium, to launch the campaign "Thai students not cheating".

Thammasat rector Somkid Lertpaitoon likens the campaign to the vaccination. Upon graduation, these students would be quality workers who are immune to all types of corruption.

Anti-corruption would be included in the curriculum and the student network plans events in different regions every three months.

A poll by Assumption University showed that among students, 92.4 per cent admitted that they did copy their friends' reports in the past 12 months. Some 74.9 per cent cheated in the exams. The poll showed that seed of corruption is seen among students, teachers, government officers and company employees.

Yalisa Thammawong, a senior student at Thammasat University as the student leader, said that students can help stop corruption.

"They can start with themselves. They must not use connection or pay bribes, and must not cheat in the exams," she said. All participating universities will host activities to raise the awareness.
