BANGKOK, 16 May 2013 – Commander of the 4th Army Area Lt. Gen. Sakol Chuentrakul has expressed his confidence in security measures for teachers in the southern border provinces while calling on the insurgents to stop attacking teachers so that students’ learning will not be affected.

Speaking about the protection of teachers in the three southern border provinces on 16 May 2013 when local schools reopen, Lt. Gen. Sakol confirmed that tight security would be provided for all teachers during the commute between their residences and schools. Since every teacher in the troubled region had learned about the government’s security plan for them, he believed the security measures would be carried out efficiently.

The commander pointed out that security for the southern border teachers would be ensured through the cooperation between the military, the police, local administrative officers and village headmen. Lastly, he asked teachers’ attackers to cease their activities in order to give students a chance to attend their classes and allow the locals to live peacefully.
