BANGKOK, 13 May 2013 (NNT) â€" The Southern Border Provinces Administration Center (SBPAC) is calling on Deep South residents to lend a hand in solving years-long insurgent unrest, which has killed more than 5,000 people, to date.

SBPAC Secretary-General Thawee Sodsong said on Monday that the best way to restore peace in the conflict-torn southern border region is more participation of locals in every possible way.

Mr. Thawee commented that the government’s endeavor to tackle insurgent violence in the restive far South must always take into consideration social and cultural differences in the region.

He stated that all efforts must recognize the feeling of Deep South residents in order for the peace restoration to succeed, while stressing that the use of violence to retaliate will not help solve years-long violence easily.

The SBPAC Secretary-General also noted that the participation of Deep South students will play an important part in tackling the problem effectively.
