Energy Minister Pongsak Ruktapongpisal Wednesday described Tuesday evening's blackouts in all 14 southern provinces as "an unavoidable incident" but he did not give long-term measures to prevent another power outage in the region.
The plan to build more power plants in the region would continue as planned, the energy minister said. But he denied the power outage had anything to do with a plan construct a coal-fired power plant in the South. "I insist that the problem has nothing to do with the policy of building a coal-fired power plant," he said.
