Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will introduce the Boeing 777-300ER, complete with Wi-Fi Internet connectivity, on its daily flights between Abu Dhabi and New York from June 1.
The three-class aircraft will offer 328 seats, representing a 36.6 per cent increase in capacity compared with the Airbus A340-500 currently used on the route. The aircraft will be configured with eight Diamond First Class, 40 Pearl Business class and 280 Coral Economy class seats.
Coronation celebrated
Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate the 60th anniversary of her coronation on June 2 and the city of London has planned numerous special events to commemorate the spectacle. The current art exhibition "Coronation" will run until September 7. Westminster Abbey is planning a coronation anniversary concert on June 13, and the Westminster Abbey choir will present a selection of familiar coronation songs on June 2. Changi tops the airport charts
Changi Airport in Singapore has been selected as the best airport in the world for the fourth time by the management consulting company Skytrax for the 2013 World Airport Awards. Changi swapped spots atop the rankings from last year when Incheon International Airport in South Korea was number one. Third place in this year's rankings was Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. LA without a car
Los Angeles's tourism agency is hoping to entice visitors to find new ways to explore the city. Its "Car Free LA" programme offers seven itineraries for tourists up for biking, walking or taking the Metro transit system. Trips include the bike route from Venice to Santa Monica and a walking tour of Hollywood, though you may have to take a taxi to the starting point.
Cosying up to coral
The coral reefs off Curacao can soon be explored in Google Maps with 360degree images. Curacao is the second underwater world following the Great Barrier Reef to be available on the online platform, according to tourism officials from the Caribbean island. The recordings originated from a research team that at the same time collected data for a long-term observation of the ecosystem. Curacao is a favourite holiday destination for divers.
New class system for Estonian Air
Airline company Estonian Air is introducing a new three-level fare system. Instead of the previous five price classes, the Estonian company now offers Business, Flex and Eco classes. Tickets in Business and Flex will include free food and drinks, according to the airline. From August 1, the airline will also introduce a 10 euro (Bt400) check-in fee for all Eco passengers who want to check in at the counter. Passengers who check in online, over their mobile telephone or at the self-service terminals do not have to pay anything extra.
