I have long believed that Thailand is not ready for great satire. Brent's letter of May 3 tends to validate that belief.
Lighten up, guy! This is (or used to be) the Land of Smiles, not the Land of Snarls. Stereotypes usually contain a grain of truth - otherwise they wouldn't have become stereotypes. And who knows? Satirising them might inspire some people to rethink them.
I for one find Stephff's cartoons funny, and urge him to carry on. His portrayals of plump and pampered hi-so ladies alone deserve a Pulitzer Prize.
