New York - A novel about life inside North Korea that gives a rare peek into the tightly closed country won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for fiction Monday.

The Orphan Master's Son was written by Adam Johnson, 45, who spent three years researching the book, including a six-day stint in the communist country. It tells the story of a military hero who falls out of favour with the regime, as it heads towards growing confrontation with the US.//DPA
