Two penthouse units located in the centre of Kuala Lumpur were recently each reserved for an estimated RM37 million (US$12.2 million), according to local newspaper The Star.

The two apartments, situated in the prestigious Four Seasons Place, could potentially set a new KL record once the transaction is complete.

The buyers, who remain unknown although speculation suggests they are local, reserved the units a "few years ago" while the project was still in the planning stage, an unnamed source told The Star.

The RM33,484 (US$11,060) per sq m properties could potentially surpass the the current record set by the transaction of The Binjai On The Park penthouse last year, which sold for RM28,603 (US$9,448) per sq m.

Developed by Benus Assets Sdn Bhd, Four Seasons Place is a joint venture between the Sultan of Selangor Datuk Ong Beng Send, Tan Sri Syed Yusof Syed Nasir, and Venus Assets director Datuk David Ban, and is slated to have a gross development value of RM2.8 billion (US$924.8 million).

The project will comprise 27,870 sq m of luxury retail space and 231 hotel rooms, in addition to 242 serviced apartments. Facilities will include a private swimming pool, members club and private lifts, and residents will also be entitled to the brand's hospitality services, Venus Assets chairman Syed Yusof told The Malay Mail recently.

"The Four Seasons Residences provides the ultimate in prestige and exclusivity but the real priority is your own personal satisfaction," he said. "We can stock your groceries, cater your dinner and parties, arrange for a chef to cook in your home, order-in from the hotel's restaurants or get last minute theatre tickets through the concierge.

While completion of the 65-storey project has been long overdue, it is now expected to be completed by 2017.
