TV executives must go

The incident last Friday in which the Thai PBS Television management abruptly blocked the fifth episode of the programme "Thai Monarchy under the Constitution" was disgraceful.

As one who supports Thailand as a democracy with the King as head of state, I see the need to have the lese majeste law corrected in a way that it ceases to become a political tool for any individual or group to use for selfish gain.

Even though the programme was not without flaws, its host and his team should be lauded for having the courage to bring such an interesting topic to the public's attention.

However, Thai PBS managing director Somchai Suwanban was spineless and abruptly banned the show after a group of 20 or so people gathered at PBS headquarters in protest against the programme.
