BANGKOK, 30 March 2013 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has been informed by the National Security Council (NSC) of the outcome of its talks with an insurgent group on 28 March 2013 in Malaysia.

The PM on Friday asked the media to wait for a meeting between the NSC and the operations center for southern border policy and strategy steering who would discuss the results of the peace talks. Ms Yingluck declined to give an interview about the NSC’s briefing to her on the Thai government-the BRN meeting as well as the controversial two-trillion-baht loan bill.

According to NSC Secretary-General Lt.Gen. Pharadon Phatthanathabut, who led the peace talks on Thursday in Malaysia, the two parties agreed that each side could form a team of up to 15 people to engage in southern border negotiations. The BRN representatives had told the NSC they would communicate with their fellow militants about Thailand’s call for decreasing violent incidents in the region and asked for time.
