BMA urges moderation during Songkran

Songkran revellers in Bangkok will be asked to refrain from drinking alcohol and from throwing powder or using high-pressure water guns.





Pranee Sattayapgrakob, director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, said the BMA would hold a grand celebration of the Songkran festival from April 12-15.



Festivities include a flower procession carrying Phra Buddhasihing from Sanam Luang to Pahurad, Wongwian Yai, Pinklao Bridge, khao san Rd and Lan Kon Muan. Other activities include a merit-making ceremony in which the public can give alms to 186 monks, seek blessings, and sprinkle water on senior citizens, as well as concerts featuring popular singers and opportunities to buy One Tambon, One Product goods.
