THAI to add more routes flights to boost Thai tourism

BANGKOK, 15 February 2013 (NNT) Ć¢€" The countryĆ¢€™s flag-carrier is planning to add more flights and routes to its schedule in order to help boost the travel business.

Thai Airways International President Sorajak Kasemsuvan revealed that the flag-carrier is looking to add many more flights to its schedule before the end of this year, especially on routes proven to be popular and are connecting points that can bring in more travelers to Thailand.


Mr. Sorajak raises such examples as the Bangkok-Sapporo flight, which will become daily in winter, and those flights to Russian cities, which have seen the number of arrivals per year shot up to 1.2 million.


He added that new flights connecting Phuket with Bombay and New Delhi will also be opened soon under its sister carrier Thai Smile Air, while additional flights to Myanmar will also be launched to accommodate travelers from Europe and America.


The flag-carrier present stated that new flights and routes are intended to help achieve the 2013 tourist arrival target of 25 million, as set by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
