Democrat candidate for Bangkok governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra yesterday said that if re-elected he would build a bridge across the Chao Phraya River at Kiak Kai to improve traffic flow.



Commuters would also see the launch of boat services along Phasi Charoen Canal, he said, adding that he would improve the piers in Bangkok's waterways.


He also pledged to complete the installation of 24,000 security cameras around the capital.


Just before the end of his first term, he approved a budget for 2,700 security cameras, he said.


Sukhumbhand also vowed to develop 10 new parks or green areas. In his first term, Bangkok saw new parks covering 5,000 rai, he said, adding that he would redouble his efforts in this sphere.


Furthermore, two hospitals would be built, in Bang Khunthien and Don Muang districts, to serve the elderly, he said.
