PM to speed up investigation on failed PCC contract

BANGKOK, 9 February 2013 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has ordered the Royal Thai Police to speed up investigations into the alleged corruption in the long-delayed construction of buildings and offices at 396 police stations.

National police spokesman Piya Utayo said that during the Office of National Police Policy Board̢۪s meeting, Prime Minister Yingluck assigned the board to set up a committee to scrutinize details of the new construction contract once the contract awarded to PCC Development and Construction Co is revoked.


Superintendents of all 396 police stations will be summoned this week to be briefed on the board̢۪s next move.


During the meeting, Ms Yingluck also spoke of plans to integrate closed circuit camera systems nationwide through a centralized operation center in Bangkok. The Southern Border Police Operation Center meanwhile is set to be in charge of CCTVs in three southern border provinces.
