Officials issue alert on six waterfalls for flash flood

Authorities in Trang province on Tuesday issued a ban on people playing in six waterfalls in three districts out of concerns for flash flood following two consecutive days of heavy rains.



The waterfalls are still open to visit but people are prohibited from going into the water. They are Kachong and Toneplew waterfalls in Na Yong district, Sairung waterfalls in Yan Ta Khao district and Toete, Tontok and Lamploke waterfalls in Palian district.



Officials at the waterfalls are on alert and have also prepared manual sirens in case flash floods hit the areas.



Trang Governor Theerayuth Iamtrakul said local authorities have been ordered to inform people living in atrisk areas to be on alert and ready to move to higher ground.
