Two policemen, janitor killed in Pattani drive-by shooting

Pattani - Two highway policemen and a janitor were killed in a drive-by shooting in this southern border province late Friday night.



The shooting occurred at 10:30 pm on the Pattanai-Narathiwat Road in Karubi village in Pattani's Sai Buri district.


The two policemen were returning to their road checkpoint in Sai Buri after a mission and the picked up the janitor with them. They were attacked by six insurgents on a pick-up truck only some 300 metres before they reached their checkpoint.


The two policemen were identified as Pol Sen Sgt-Maj Worawit Kaewsri-on, 43, and Pol Sen Sgt-Maj Pathompong Tosamart, 51. The janitor was identified as Lijae Sulong, 63.
