BANGKOK, 22 January 2013 (NNT) â" Thailand has been chosen by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) along with 2 other countries to promote local community products in the global market.
Thailandâs Intellectual Property Department along with the International Economic Affairs Department, the Industrial Promotion Department and WIPO have joined in the workshop on Capacity Building, which is a part of the countryâs collaboration with WIPO to help educate local communities about product branding.
The workshop, held in Chiang Mai Province, saw the participation of community leaders, local producers and entrepreneurs from 3 tradition cotton woven villages from Chiang Mai, Lamphun and Ang Thong provinces.
Department of Intellectual Property Director-General Pajchima Tanasanti said that WIPO has selected Thailand to promote products from these 3 villages in the world market.
Two other countries selected by WIPO to carry out the same mission are Panama and Uganda, according to Mrs. Pajchima.
She added that WIPO will help promote Thai and other two countriesâ products while Thailand stands to benefit from the knowledge gathered from its participation in this project
