Seven more join Bangkok governor race, raising candidate number to 25

Seven more candidates applied for the race for the Bangkok governor's seat Friday, the last day of the five-day candidacy registration period, raising the number of candidates to 25.





Bangkok City Clerk Ninnart Chalitanon said the seven new candidates are Sukhum Wongprasit (No 19), Krit Suriyapol (No 20), Torranee Ritthithamrong (No 21), Supachai Kasemwong (No 22), Rawiwan Sutthiwirasawan (No 23), Witthaya Jungkobwattana (No 24) and Pol Col Kachornsak Kosayothin (No 25).



Ninnart said the Bangkok Election Committee would need about a week to verify qualifications of the 25 candidates and would announce the list of eligible candidates on February 1.



She said the lists of eligible voters would be announced on February 5.
