The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has given 950 million baht to the ICT Ministry to kickstart a project aimed at providing free WiFi across the country within five years.
The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology has announced it aims to open 40,000 WiFi hotspots this year, and 250,000 by 2018, a report by TelecomAsia said Thursday.
The money came from the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USO) which is administered by the NBTC.
