Youngsters aged between four and 25 years with a talent for singing are invited to compete in "Thailand Vocalist Awards 2013".


Youths wishing to vie for the 'Thailand Vocalist Awards 2013' must file their applications by Feb 8.



They will be vying for trophies instituted by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.


Initiated by Panyapat Thummarattana, or Khru Fasai as he is popularly known, the competition is a breeding ground for young and emerging local vocalists. Khru Fasai has a wealth of experience as trainer and commentator on numerous Thai reality TV shows.


The competition's judging panel comprises accomplished singers, voice trainers, producers and agency managers: they include Moncheep Sivasinangkul (aka Khru Ped), Karn Janthong (aka Khru Karn), Thanat Thunyaharn (aka Khru Big), Thitima Phatumtip (aka Khru Ann), Mum Laconic, Nat-Meria, Off-Pongsak and Rose-Sirintip.


The competition is divided into two categories _ Junior, for children four to 12 years old, and Senior, for those aged 13 to 25 years. Participants will be judged by the quality and technique of their singing, voice projection, interpretation and expression, and stage presence.


The competition is spread over of three rounds. In the first, 100 participants will be shortlisted _ 50 for each category _ based on their submitted video clips. In the second or semi-final round on Feb 16, the list will be trimmed down to 20 _ 10 from each category.


These 20 finalists will then attend a workshop conducted by Khru Fasai before the final round scheduled for March 9 at Aksra Theatre. Proceeds from ticket sales in this round will go to charity projects undertaken by the Bangkok Charity Orchestra.


The first-prize winner in each category will receive the HRH Princess Sirindhorn Trophy and 100,000 baht in cash prize. Additionally, the winner in Senior category is entitled to a sponsored trip to the US and a chance to attend a summer course in singing at world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. Second and third prize winners will receive the "Thailand Vocalist Awards 2013" trophy and cash prizes worth 30,000 baht and 10,000 baht, respectively.


To enter the competition, submit a video clip of your singing along with the application form available at www.thailandvocalistawards.com by post or via the internet no later than Feb 8.


The clips should be short _ no longer than five minutes _ while the choice of songs is restricted to international or Thai (except luk thung folk songs).
