Dual pricing is bad business practice

I fail to see the rationale behind dual pricing at Asiatique Sky Ferris Wheel.

From an economist's point of view, multiple-tier pricing is justifiable if a given market has a different demand/supply curve, as when children pay less than adults because they have less money or buy less, or senior citizen are on fixed incomes, or for charitable reasons, such as monks. State-run organisations might charge citizens less because citizens pay taxes that non-citizens are not subject to, as in the US, where state universities charge citizens of that state less than outsiders, and no one raises a fuss.

But none of the above applies in the case of Asiatique, which I understand is privately owned. Surely the management doesn't think that mere skin colour is a reliable indicator of wealth? If so, all Thais who drive luxury cars would be highly insulted, while Caucasian backpackers would wish that the management's misconceptions were true.

I recommend that Asiatique management promptly remedy its unjustifiable and self-inflicted wound by charging the same for foreigners as for Thais - regardless of whether that price be high or low.
