Chalerm to meet with Malay PM

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung is expected to meet Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on Thursday to discuss the violence in Thailand's Deep South.

Mr Chalerm is scheduled to depart Thailand this evening for Malaysia. Prior to the strategic meeting with the Malaysian Premier, he is set to hold talks with Malaysian Interior Minister and security-related agencies in Kuala Lumpur.


According to Chalerm, he will during the meeting with Mr Najib seek Kuala Lumpur's help in dealing with suspects who have gone into hiding in Malaysia after launching insurgent attacks in the far South.


Mr Chalerm also met with Islamic spiritual leader Chularatchamontri Aziz Phitakkumpon yesterday. He said he had asked Mr Aziz to help relay a Thai government's message regarding solutions to the southern conflict to the people in the far South.


The message will be taped by Chula Rajmontri,the Chief of the Muslim in Thailand, and broadcast on the television channel run by the Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre (SBPAC).
