Renovated from a local wooden hotel, Burasari Heritage in Luang Prabang has opened on the banks of the Khan River. It has a simple earth-tone look and is set amid a lush garden.
Owned by the Thai hospitality firm, the Burasari Group, the boutique hotel is its first four-star hotel outside the country where it operates Burasari Phuket and Shanghai Mansion in Bangkok. The group also owns Chang Inn, a guesthouse in Luang Prabang. The business expanded to Laos because the owner, Lily Udomkhunnatham, fell in love with the charming town when she travelled there with her husband and strolled along the river three years ago. She invested about 50 million baht on a five-month renovation.
They flew a team of Thai architects to redesign the hotel, brought trees and decorative plants and most of the materials used for the renovation from Thailand, while tailor-made local products were commissioned to fit the property's warm and stylish decorations.
"It is a place of love and passion from the day it started," she said, adding that she hoped all guests would feel at home while staying at Burasari Heritage.
