BANGKOK, 25 January 2013 – The Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) is urgently clarifying its new investment promotion policy to investors nationwide, especially those in the eastern region where investment is continuously expanding.
A seminar will be held for the eastern investors to explain the BOIâs new investment promotion policy and listen to the investorsâ opinions. Conclusions from the seminar will be used in designing strategies specifically for investment promotion in the region. In 2012, the BOI approved support for 768 projects worth more than 300 billion baht. Most of them are in the automotive, mechanical parts, metal, petrochemical, paper and plastic, and service and utility industries.
The new investment promotion policy of the BOI entails privileges that motivate investors to put their money into research and development as well as environmental protection and encourage more investment in industrial estates and industrial clusters. Investment in these fields is in line with the countryâs development direction towards a more knowledge-based economy.
