TV5 launched a trial digital terrestrial TV broadcasting service in greater Bangkok Friday, marking the 55th anniversary of the Royal Thai Army Radio and Television Station.
Lt-General Chatchai Sarikulya, president of Royal Thai Army Radio and Television Station, said the station would invest Bt60 million on this trial operation, which also covered other provinces within a 100-kilometre radius from Bangkok. The budget will be used for a new digital transmitter, 1,000 digital set-top boxes for a sample audience, and transmission cost.
The digital terrestrial TV signal will be transmitted from Thai Public Broadcasting Service's facilities from the rooftop of Baiyoke Sky Tower.
