The holder of the second ticket worth half of a record US lottery jackpot in history has come forward to claim the prize, lottery officials said Friday.

The joint winner of the $587-million (18 billion baht) Powerball jackpot is a man in his 30s who lives in Fountain Hills, Arizona with his wife, the Arizona lottery announced.

It did not disclose the winner's name because he requested anonymity, but under the lottery rules in Arizona his name eventually will become public.

The jackpot was the largest in Powerball history and it was the second-largest lottery jackpot in US history.

The other ticket was bought by a 52-year-old mechanic from a small town in Missouri. He and his wife claimed their share of the jackpot on Nov 30, two days after the draw.

Mark Hill, his wife, Cindy, an unemployed office manager, and their children were introduced at a news conference in their hometown of Dearborn, Missouri.

Both tickets had the winning numbers 5, 16, 22, 23, 29 and a Powerball of 6.
