Don't let harassment debate obscure corruption fight

In her speech during the censure debate, Democrat Party MP Rangsima Rodrasamee offered information - and also cited a dream she had - when discussing mishandling of the budget for flood-relief projects, saying the spending was not transparent.

Pheu Thai MP Prasit Chaisrisa protested against citing a dream during a debate, saying she must base discussions on the truth, as dreams are unreliable.

Really, if he had just said that, it would clear be enough.

But as an example, he asked her what she would say if he told her that in his dream he slept with her?

In an attempt to defend Rangsima, Democrat MP Pusadee Tamthai asked Prasit what he would think if someone in the House mentioned dreaming of sleeping with the premier?

I think it is too aggressive, using sexual imagery to fight back and ruin the dignity of each other.

Certainly, mentioning the idea of sleeping with someone is sexual harassment, and demeans the prestigious House of Representatives. Speakers must be responsible for their speech and abide by the House code of ethics process.

But we should not focus only on the issue of sexual dreams. What should not be forgotten is the content of the censure debate, which will lead to detecting and reducing corruption in any project that is considered a priority on the national agenda.
