Banglamung District Chief Chaowalit Sang-Uthai led a group of notables in local government and business to celebrate His Majesty's 85th birthday. He is currently the world's longest serving monarch, having reigned since June 9, 1946, and also the longest reigning monarch in Thai history.  Meanwhile, at Nong Nooch Gardens, there were special celebrations marking Father's Day, including 40 artistic elephants, some of which wrote with their trunks, "Long Live The King – 85 Years."
