Leaders need smarts, not just looks

Ref: "Good lesson from PM Yingluck", Letters, Saturday.

Konmaryi of Bangkok praises Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra for being confident and ever smiling whenever she answers questions posed by reporters or political leaders. Konmaryi also says PM Yingluck never seems embarrassed even though her answers are irrelevant to the questions.

My opinion is that we Thais share the same hope - that we have a leader who is not just good looking, but intelligent too.

Hence, we keep looking for the embodiment of a leader who can speedily recognise the difference between being a "pundit" and a "chatterbox".

Let us hope until we find such a leader.
