The Deputy Mayor told the Pattaya Times newspaper
of the progress being made in solving the Jet Ski problem. The newspaper was
informed that Mr. Komsan Ekkachai, the Chonburi Governor, has implemented a
plan to organize the boat and jet ski rentals in Pattaya beach, Jomtien beach
and Koh Larn.  Recently a committee was
formed to prepare the details of the Jet Ski rental, to set beach zones and appoint
a headman to monitor and control the Jet Ski operators in their own zone.
Pattaya beach has been divided into six zones; Jomtien beach having five zones,
and Koh Larn 13 zones. All the rental services will be of the same standard and
no services will be allowed to operate after 18:00 hours.

Pol. Capt. Dr. Chalerm Yubamrung, Deputy Prime
Minister, showed great concern about the organizing of Jet Ski rentals.  He and the Governor of Chonburi reported on
the progress of the operation and greatly appreciated that the operation was
progressing within the scheduled time frame.
The next step is the introduction of three insurance companies that will
make insurance details readily available to any concerned party. However it was
stressed that the Jet Ski operators must comply with the rules governing
insurance due to the importance for Pattaya and the country in ensuring the
happiness of its citizens and tourists. We should bear in mind that the
proposed measures will be helpful in increasing government revenue from tourism
to over 2 billion Baht.
