The project is still largely secret, but it is said to focus the search for alien intelligence and to resemble in some ways Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), according to The Hollywood Reporter. George Clooney is currently in talks with production for the lead role. The plot was penned by Damon Lindeloff, the sci-fi specialist behind the scripts for Lost and Prometheus.

The Disney studios production also marks the directorial comeback of Brad Bird, who earned several Oscars for The Invincibles and Ratatouille, and tried his hand with live actors on the set of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. 1952's production dates have yet to be announced.
