In Thai numerology, the number 11 means bad fortune, while Western beliefs hold it as lucky. Piyatat is interested in divergent understandings as he explores photography's capacity to capture precise moments while also acknowledging how moments can escape precise understandings.
Piyatat Hemmatat worked as a successful art director in London for a number of years and graduated from Chelsea College of Art in 2007. On returning to Bangkok he founded RMA Institute, a consultancy and non-profit art and education space. He continues to work on commissioned projects and exhibits internationally.
