The Criminal Court yesterday dismissed a lawsuit filed by businessman Suthep Laohawattana against his younger brother, former police doctor Suphat, accusing him of perjury and presenting false evidence in a hearing about the custody of their 96-year-old mother Thanim.

Suthep's attorney Songpol Arthornthurasuk said they will appeal.

The court rejected the case citing the lack of proper details about Suphat's behaviour, saying the charges were not legitimate.

Suthep claimed that Suphat, while seeking a court order to become Thanim's custodian, had told the Central Juvenile and Family Court on May 11 that Suthep was mired in debt and had failed in his business and hence wanted to take charge of their mother and her assets.
