The ruling Pheu Thai Party said yesterday that the no-confidence debate in the House of Representatives, starting today, would definitely go on as planned, according to party spokesman Prompong Nopparit.
He said it was because the government wanted to give the Opposition the chance to check its work.
The ruling party yesterday called a meeting that lasted less than an hour to discuss the no-confidence debate but key government figures did not show up. Neither Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra nor any of her deputies, including Defence Minister Sukampol Suwannathat, joined the meeting. Only former PM Somchai Wongsawat was present.
