Platform will make it easier for Thai companies to showcase their products in the global market

CAT Telecom has launched CAT e-exhibition to add value to the marketing and management technology of the Thai Garment Manufacturing Associa-tion (TGMA).

CAT Telecom's vice president for the e-Business Development Department, Premchai Jaikwang, said that TGMA is an important organisation that helps drive the country's economy and paves the way for Thai fashion to enter the global market. CAT Telecom aims to use CAT e-exhibition to assist the association in expand its global market coverage.

"We are providing CAT e-exhibition as a platform to facilitate Thai garment manufacturers to have a presence on the global market easily. This is to pave the way for Thai garments to enter the Asean Economic Community [AEC] in 2015," said Premchai.

CAT e-exhibition is the innovative marketing tool that helps Thai garment manufacturers to communicate their products to the world. It is a platform equipped with multimedia technologies that helps garment manufacturers to present their products over the Internet to reach potential customers around the world.

"It is beyond the website. It is designed to serve the total experience of online exhibition that allows people to feel as if they are at a real exhibition of Thai garment manufacturers. They can tour and touch all products closely virtually," said Premchai.

He added that CAT e-exhibition can help members of TGMA and Thai garment and fashion businesses to gain international exposure instantly and efficiently as CAT e-exhibition offers a three-dimensional virtual presentation of the products. It also offers management systems, including membership system, market information and customer database systems, as well as product and stock inventory management systems, and online meeting system that facilitates traders and manufacturers to keep in touch and discuss business issues. It also supports live streaming that is expected to be fully running by the first quarter of the next year.

"As the leading telecom service provider in Thailand, our policy is to be the leader in providing e-business solutions as well. We aim to implement CAT e-exhibition for many organisations with the aim to encourage them to have powerful marketing tools and give them a marketing advantage over their competitors," said Premchai.

TMGA director Yutthana Silpsanvich said that the association's role is to provide market information and innovative technologies to help the industry take advantage by supporting its 500 members. The goal is to lead the country to be at the forefront of the garment and fashion market in the world and especially to be the hub of this industry in Asean.

He added that the CAT Telecom system facilitates and encourages the Thai garment industry to expand its business in the region and world easily and powerfully.

"With CAT Telecom, our members will have a 24-hour online store to reach prospective customers around the world. It will not only be a front-end store but it also offers the back-end systems such as store management, membership management, as well as marketing and promotion management. This helps them save a lot of cost in marketing and selling their products to reach the world market. Instead of having to invest between Bt400,000 and Bt500,000 for a one-week exposure at an international roadshow, the CAT e-exhibition services will cost just half, about Bt200,000 to Bt300,000," said Yutthana.

TGMA is interested in encouraging members to adopt online technologies for their marketing activities. This year, it aims to focus on the Asean market to prepare for the AEC in 2015. Thai garment manufacturers should prepare themselves in advance.

"Last year, we focused on the market in the United States and Europe. From now on, our focus will turn to the Asean market," said Yutthana.

He added that in the past, there were a lot of foreign service providers offering a similar system to the association. The association considers CAT e-exhibition better in terms of cost and efficiency. It has more local and customised functions and importantly, it is a local service provider that can closely provide after-sales service, he said.

"The mission of TGMA is to drive Thailand to be a value-added hub of the fashion and clothing business in Asean. This is to extend the strength of the Thai garment industry with marketing tools," said Yutthana.

However, the offline annual event of TGMA is the "Export Garment Fair" - that takes place twice a year, in March and October, drawing about 80,000 visitors - and the Bangkok International Fashion Fair and Bangkok International Leather fair.
