Democrat Party leader Abhisit will lead the censure debate and he remains the opposition leader despite his job credentials are being questioned, House Speaker Somsak Kiartsuranont said Tuesday.
The Defence Ministry revised Abhisit's resignation from the military service in 1989 to a dismissal due to the alleged use of false document to apply for the job.
"The Abhisit case involves several agencies and I think it is inappropriate to draw a hasty conclusion before a definitive ruling by relevant authorities," Somsak said.
He said he would await to see whether under the charter provisions, Abhisit's dismissal would have impacted on his House seat before deciding his next move.
He said he had no objection to the naming of Abhisit as an alternate candidate for the position of prime minister since the opposition leader must assume power should the government fail to win the censure voting.
