The Democrat Party yesterday demanded that legal action be taken against a Department of Special Investigation official for taking a photograph of former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva getting his fingerprints taken and posting it on the Internet.

However, DSI chief Tarit Pengdith argued yesterday that it was not yet clear if the photograph of Abhisit's fingerprints being taken was indeed taken and posted on the Net by Pol Lt-Colonel Theeraphol Pinmuangngarm.

Tarit said the issue still needed to be looked into and he could not say when that would be done. He added that Abhisit's aides were also present at the time and had also used their cellphones to take photographs.

Democrat spokesman Chavanond Intarakomalyasut, however, insisted that it was clear the picture had been taken from where Theeraphol was sitting while Abhisit was being officially charged by the DSI on Thursday.

Chavanond said Theeraphol had denied taking the photograph and posting it on the Net, though he was convinced that the photograph had been e-mailed to former premier Thaksin Shinawatra in exchange for a reward.
