Thai Airways International (THAI) will schedule extra domestic flights and extra services to Japan to cater for increased demand during the New Year holiday.

THAI vice president Danuj Bunnag said 20 extra domestic flights have been added and six more international flights to Japan to cater for the expected 7,000 additional passengers over the holiday period.

The airline's president Sorachak Kasemsuwan earlier said THAI has  adjusted its marketing and sales policies to put more emphasis on route management efficiency and flexibility to cater for the needs of passengers, who could well change their itinerary at any time.

The company is also looking to raise online ticket sales from the current 8-9% to 15% by next year and 20% by 2014 to keep up with the average industry rate of 18-20% of tocket sales online.

Mr Sornchak  said the company expected revenue of 223-224 billion baht in 2013, a 12% growth from this year. Out of that figure, 180 billion baht would come from commercial flights , and ground services, catering and cargo would account for the rest.
