The media isn't always receptive

In your editorial of June 24 you note that no matter how a newspaper covers an issue there will always be people who will accuse the media of bias. While that's true, the editorial overlooks the fact that the media is indeed biased towards many opinions. Examples:

Over the years I have had several articles and many letters published in which I provided overwhelming evidence that drinking dairy milk does not prevent osteoporosis. In fact, the highest rates of osteoporosis are in countries where people drink the most amount of milk. Yet the media continues to promote the lies of the dairy industry, that if you want to prevent osteoporosis you must drink milk, while only rarely giving an alternative view.

I also have read many newspaper articles claiming that because of research on mice we are on the verge of having better treatments for heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Never once have I read in the newspapers that according to a former head of the National Cancer Institute in America it has been found that curing cancer in mice has little to do with curing it in humans. In fact, the disease of an animal is never the same as the disease of a human. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Last year I sent a letter to several newspapers in which I showed well-documented evidence that mammograms are responsible for harming far more women than they help. Only one newspaper published my letter, while the editor of another newspaper sent me an e-mail saying that I don't care if women die of breast cancer.

So, you see, the media is not only frequently dismissive of people who challenge the establishment (espesially the medical establishment) but they can even be abusive as well.
