Insider tips on Iskandar investment

Boutique property research firm Ascendant Assets Pte Ltd has launched Singapore's very first book on property investment in Iskandar Malaysia.

Titled "Get It Right Iskandar", the book is a collaborative effort between two property experts, Getty Goh and Khalil Adis, and provides a well-oiled, easy-to-read guide that caters to a wide spectrum of buyers from various interest camps.

Targeting the local "man on the street" rather than seasoned investment professionals, the book aims to highlight common slip-ups to avoid when dipping into the Malaysian property market. It also offers advice for those that may not even be aware of basic buying and selling regulations in the state of Johor.

Each chapter contains stories taken from real life accounts of property buyers in Iskandar Malaysia and the book ends with a checklist of questions to guide readers through the property investment process. Property jargon is also explained in the glossary.

"With developments in Iskandar Malaysia taking shape, many investors are hoping to make good profits by investing in the region," said Getty Goh, Director at Ascendant Assets Pte Ltd. "Apart from investors, we have noticed quite a number of elderly Singaporeans looking to buy something in Iskandar Malaysia for their retirement. Hence, we think that it is timely to write this book to provide these groups of consumers with essential information that could make a huge impact on their property purchase."

Despite proximity to Singapore, Iskandar Malaysia is unfamiliar territory for most Singaporean buyers and penetrating new markets always requires thorough research.

"We hope by writing this book we can empower readers on the things that they need to watch out for when buying a property across the causeway," added Khalil Adis, Associate Research Director (Iskandar Malaysia). "While there has been significant interest among Singaporeans when investing in Iskandar Malaysia, they also need to do their due diligence so as to minimise risk when buying a property there. In addition, location is even more important as Iskandar Malaysia is three times the size of Singapore."

The book is now available online and will also be sold at all good book stores in Singapore. For more information click here.
