Thailand's No 2 Pornanong Phatlum is hoping for a repeat of her dazzling form last week in Alabama as she tees up the rain-hit US$1.3-million Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic at the Ocean Club Golf Course-Paradise Island today.

The world No 48, who last week produced her best career finish of second, tied with American Jessica Korda, after a total 20-under-par 268 in the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, wants to maintain that momentum at the par-73, 6,644-yard island course, which is still recovering from Tuesday's thunder showers.

The Thai had just one day's practise on the course, seven holes of which have been flooded, forcing organisers to postpone tee times to today and reduce the format to just 54 holes.

"Conditions are tough, because it's very windy with the course set up near the beach. It's very panoramic but the greens are fast and wide with a lot of slopes," said Pornanong, in her second year on the LPGA circuit. The 23-year-old from Chaiyaphum has improved her results recently with three top 10 finishes, including a 10th at the HSBC Women's Champions and a tie for third at the KIA Classic.

"I am mentally and physically tougher this year. I've also improved my game, especially technique-wise. It's mainly thanks to my brother, Pornpong, who helps me on the technical side, and the fitness team of my sponsor Volvik," said Pornanong, who has her brother caddying for her on the idyllic Bahamas island.

"I learned from last year and know more about shot selection and how to deal with different conditions and situations. But there is still a lot for me to learn and improve," said Pornanong, who squandered a second place going into the final round of Kraft Nabisco and finished tied for 13th. Last week she came from behind to fire a final round 63 to trail winner Jennifer Johnson by one stroke.

"I am trying not to think about last week too much. Because it's so windy here, I have to be really focused and very careful about my game plan," she added.

Pornanong is one of the three Thais competing in the Bahamas, along with Numa Gulyanamitta and Thidapa Suwannapura. Moriya Jutanugarn has opted to skip this week's event to prepare for next week's US$1.5-million ShopRite LPGA Classic due at Galloway course in New Jersey, where her sister Ariya will take part in qualifying.
