Thailand coach Winfried Schaefer has slammed the Football Association for its "disrespect and lack of professionalism" in announcing a 20-man list for the upcoming friendly against China without his knowledge.

Last month, FA president Worawi Makudi said the association was preparing to promote former national striker Kiatisak Senamuang, currently in charge of the SEA Games squad, to coach the senior side on a caretaker basis as it sought to end the 63-year-old Schaefer's contract.

Insisting he was still firmly in the national post that he has held since June 2010, the embattled German coach reacted angrily to a report that Kiatisak had already announced the list of players for the China fixture on June 15.

"I, for my part, can only repeat myself: If the FA wants to send another trainer to any match of the Thailand national team, they must act professionally by first cancelling my contract. The FA has not cancelled my contract; the FA has not formally talked to me about cancelling my contract, therefore I'm still the national trainer of Thailand," the German posted on his Facebook page.

"We have sent the FAT the preliminary list of players and asked them to apply for visas. The final list of players will be ready after the game day on June 9. It would be unprofessional to announce the players before that date. The fact that Kiatisak Senamuang has announced the players for the match in China is unprofessional and disrespectful to my team and me."

Schaefer, whose reign has come under severe scrutiny following the Thai team's poor run of results of late, is hoping to find a solution in the next few days to a situation he described as "ridiculous".

"As the situation becomes more and more ridiculous I will initiate the necessary steps to clarify the matter in the next days. I think what is happening now is not fair towards the national players, the football fans and my team and me. Furthermore it is robbing us of the precious time needed to make necessary improvements. This matter has wasted enough of our time. Let's get back to work."

The German, though, may have to wait a little while longer for clarification on his contract, as Worawi is currently in Mauritius attending Fifa's annual Congress as a member of the governing body's executive committee.
