ING Life Thailand will focus on building a customer-centric business through leveraging on customer-friendly technologies and developing innovative products and solutions, according to newly appointed chief executive officer Mike Plaxton.

The company will enhance its customer-service platform to satisfy the evolving needs of its customers better, including providing quality advice and service, as well as developing tailored products that meet the needs of customers across a range of demographic groups, he said.

ING Life Thailand will also focus on developing innovative products and solutions to meet customer needs, he added.

"Through our existing agency force and strong partnership with TMB, we will therefore invest more on training, and support our distributors to effectively develop multi-distribution capabilities and increase productivity levels. We will also continue to expand our distribution reach and network of business partners."

Plaxton sees vast opportunities to expand into new business segments.

"Health and retirement are going to be the new frontiers for insurance companies, driven by the ageing population, increased wealth in the region, higher expectations for medical care, [and] rising medical costs. We are poised to capitalise on these emerging trends with our forward thinking and innovative suite of products, as we aim to deliver long-term benefit for our shareholders."

ING Life Thailand is in the process of developing a new identity and branding for its insurance business. It says the new brand, to be unveiled soon, will reflect the group's ambition for its insurance operations to break new ground, conveying a fresher and more innovative approach to accelerate the growth of the business and win the hearts of customers.

ING was acquired by Pacific Century Group on February 28 and is no longer affiliated with ING Group or its affiliates.
